[edit] NBC

Hello, I am trying to make a nbc wiki and I need support for the request, since this is a wiki on a NBC show I hope a couple of you can support my request. Jimwitz 03:22, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Default skin

The default skin is very creative, but it's just awful from a functionality standpoint. The entire site is almost completely illegible. What you need is a nice sans serif font, like this one (the typewriter font has got to go), and a much lighter and less busy background (or none at all). I realize I could change it in my personal settings, but I'm willing to bet that a lot of other people would feel similarly. — LCARS 18:11, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
The default skin for newcomers is now quartzsmoke. Do you find that one more usable than the old monobook one you're using? Angela@Wikia (talk) 19:35, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I'll work on lightening the current background image so it is more legible. As for the font, I don't see a problem with it. It functions fine and works well with our theme of The Office. DaHumorist 20:50, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Angela: If by default skin you mean the one that users see when they're not logged in, then MonoBook is still what I see. DaHumorist: Are you on a Mac? On Windows systems (which most users are going to be using), Courier New (used in the majority of this reply) renders far better than Courier. Using a serif font, like this one, wouldn't be so bad (by the way, why does it fall back to a serif font instead of a monospaced one if Courier isn't on the system?). Studies have shown, however, that sans serif fonts are the easiest to read on screen.[1] [2] On the other hand, monospaced fonts are brutal when you're trying to navigate a huge chunk of text. Perhaps the theme could be adjusted so that form does not trump function. LCARS 00:21, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
As I can see you feel strongly about, this i have changed it to a sans-serif font. If there is anything else you think needs changing as far as design is concerned, I'm definately open to suggestions. DaHumorist 11:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your attention to this concern. How does the background appear on your screen? At the resolution I use (1280 pixels), the orange paper becomes a thin strip in between two pieces of legal paper. Is this the intended effect? LCARS 20:46, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
I have once again changed the background to appease the other users. it is now simply a faded lined paper. If there is STILL a problem with this, please tell me what you would prefer. DaHumorist 21:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Material

On wikipedia there are complete episode synopsis' for almost every episode. My question is should we just copy some of the material from wikipedia straight to this wiki? Seems like at the very least it would save time. Liberalkid

Both wikis are licensed under the GFDL, so it's fine to do that. I suggest you use the {{wikipedia}} template for attribution. Angela@Wikia (talk) 23:31, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Collaborative script generation for suspended shows, including "The Office"

I've submitted a proposal for a new Wikia dedicated to collaborative fan-created scripts for some of the more popular shows that have gone into unplanned hiatus or been suspended, due to the writers' strike. "The Office" regulars have just been suspended and the studio's contracts with the writers may be dissolved as early as next week. Perhaps, through the power of Wikia, Office fans can generate a few production-quality scripts that Universal Media can consider picking up, rather than (potentially) canceling prodcution of an indefinite number of unwritten episodes. This request is still pending, so any support this wiki's community can lend on the proposal page would be greatly appreciated.
