Hannah Smoterich-Barr, is a fictional character played by Ursula Burton in the television series The Office.

Overview

Hannah is a working mother with a baby at home. She projects an outward normalcy but under the surface holds opinions that others may consider strange. Once somebody says something she thinks is wrong, she quickly becomes unpleasant and sarcastic. She is named after Hannah Smotrich, who is a friend of the producer, Greg Daniels.

Season 3

Hannah was formerly an employee of Dunder Mifflin Stamford and was mostly seen in the background during the branch's existence.

When Hannah transfers to the Scranton branch, Michael seats her across from Meredith. She is present in Michael's "Lazy Scranton" video. Creed takes a picture of her breast, which she complains about to Michael. She is later present at the Michael's meeting where she and the other Stamford transfers (except Tony) are sitting on the table. She witnesses Tony quit and Michael's subsequent firing of him. Hannah expresses disbelief and annoyance at Michael's plan to get the Scranton and Stamford employees to work together by slashing all their tires (in lieu of having his tires slashed, Michael received a "hate note," which he composed) and blaming Vance Refrigeration (The Merger). She brings her son into work and Pam mistakes him for a girl since he is dressed in pink, as his mother says it's his favorite color. (the Convict). She later quits while Michael is away on vacation (Back From Vacation).
