Gabe, can you stop talking? Cause every word out of your mouth is like the squawk of an ugly pelican.

Gabe and Erin date over the summer in Season 7. It is an extremely awkward and unorthodox relationship, with Gabe romanticizing it. Erin is obviously not attracted to Gabe but they stayed together due to Erin's politeness. While in "Sex Ed" it was revealed they were having sex, Erin would later say sex with him was bad because of how bony he is.

Andy shows jealousy toward Gabe because he "stole" Erin ("Nepotism"), commenting on how he fantasizes about Gabe being eaten by a humpback whale.

Pam learns that Erin is not attracted to Gabe at all, and is in fact completely repulsed by him, but is too shy to break it off. After receiving the "Cutest Redhead" award from Michael as part of his last Dundies performance, Erin is inspired by advice given to her by Pam and a confidence boost from the award, to finally break up with him, much to Gabe's dismay as he is attached to her and embarrassed as well as baffled by Erin's poor timing, as she decided to say this in front of the entire office ("Michael Last Dundies").

For the rest of the season, Gabe desperately tries to win her back, cornering both Andy and Erin in the restrooms on separate occasions, both of which only serve to make him more disliked by them and his other co-workers; he pleads again with Andy to stay away from Erin, before breaking down crying -- something Andy brings up in front of Erin to embarrass him when Gabe tries to dash any chances of the two of them getting back to together.

In "Search Committee," Gabe goes so far as to try and tank Andy's job interview for manager by asking him ridiculous and off-topic questions, much to the confusion of Andy and the other two interviewees (Jim and Toby); this gets Gabe thrown off the Search Committee by Kelly, who informs CEO Jo Bennett about his unprofessional behavior.

He makes an appearance in Season 9 because he was rehired by Andy to make Erin and Pete feel uncomfortable, when he claimied that he got a tattoo for Erin, which was a Nike swoosh, explaining to her, "Just do it. You were the it that I was just doing."
